its been awhile. 2 soul control tours later im still alive and kicking. we recorded some new songs which im excited about. moving forward.

ive come to realize that when you start equating your life with what you own, then well we don't see eye to eye anymore. just something i've been thinking about and feeling lately. so many people talk about things, i dont care to much about them. i want stories of life, i want real life stories, i know know it maybe tough.

but swimming in the ocean naked at 1 in the morning is a good fucking time.

    2:35 am
so my trip is getting a bit messy. the van is no longer being sold so i don;t want to drive it. so im trying to figure out the best way to get back to rochester. fly- no, train- maybe, renting a car- looking like it might be the best option. renting would be the middle ground i guess. i would get to stop in syracuse and it wouldn't take me pretty much a full day. although i would still have to drive.

    decisions decisions. what to do???

5/1/08, bane, wake up call, i rise, maintain, meltdown @Welfare Records, Haverhill,ma

Bane was a lot of fun. Still makes me love hardcore and gives me hope, just enough. i rise was decent new songs are a lot better than the older ones.

5/3/08- Tragedy, Systematic Death, Dropdead A as220, Providence ,RI

Dropdead was good, not the best i've seen them but they still were pretty great. Tragedy was fucking awesome. so glad i got to see them in one of the best venues in the U.S. so personal, sounded great, just a really good set. SD was ok, not my thing, but the drummer is a fucking monster.

5/5/08- Coliseum, Victims, Trash Talk, Tides, Tombs @ Club Hell, Providence, RI

Coliseum got into to town and ryan called me. we took a walk and hit up white electric and hungout for a bit. It was nice to catch up and hangout before the show a bit. Went to the show a bit late, missed Tombs. Tides was decent, the new song was pretty cool, the sound was a bit weird for them. Trash Talk was good, not to into the people that like this band, but the band was good, the guitar tone was really great. Victims was ok. Coliseum was fun, great banter, good song selection and they were having fun. Stoked on that band.

5/7/08- Bane, Wake up Call, Meltdown, I Rise, The Effort @club Hell, Providence,RI
Missed the effort, saw I Rise again same feelings as before. meltdown meh. Wake Up Call better this night, but nothing great. Bane was better this night in my opinion, i had mroe fun i think. I just can't get enough, wish I was able to goto the Syracuse show.

    5/9/08- Paint it Black @Club Hell, Providence,RI
A bunch of other bands played that I could care less about. Although i would have liked to see blacklisted to checkout the new songs, but i missed them. PIB was a bit weird. Something just didn't seem right. What can you do? Left shortly after them.

so yeah besides show. . .

SC is going well, im picking up the songs easier now. working on new songs which im excited about. good things. playing my first show with them on june 1st in providence @easy axxes/metal mansion. another breath is playing so im excted some friends will be there.

other things have been pretty damn awesome. still working alot but looking forward to quitting whole foods and having fun touring and hanging out this summer. getting things in motion as far as getting me stuff moved and packed. i have a place to stay and so forth. good things.

i bought a suit for holly's wedding. im excited about that. although i haven't talked to her in awhile, but i think about her a bunch. a lot is going on in my life and i haven't really clued her in.

i got accepted to rhode island college. most of my credits transfered. wahoo.

other things. well yes i have more, but i dont want to tell you.

    the official announcement
    Soul Control Update 05/02/08

On April 2nd 2008 Matt Amore informed us he was quitting Soul Control. His reasons are personal and we will not go into detail here, that is up to him explain publicly if he so desires. There were a lot of mixed emotions to say the least and we've all handled it differently as individuals. The one thing we will express on Matt's behalf is that it was his wish that Soul Control continued. After about 2 weeks of serious thought, serious talk and serious emotion, the three remaining members agreed that we did want to continue. While it is Matt's time to depart, it is not Soul Control's time to stop. With an entire new album written musically and 3 tours booked for this summer, we are not ready to just "throw it all away." So we're not going to. As a band and as friends we wish Matt the best in life and we know he wishes the same for us. We know this because we are friends and will remain so.

That all being said, after an emotional month, we are a complete band again. Rory VanGrol is now an official member of Soul Control. Some of you may know Rory from his work with the bands How We Are and Achilles. After hanging with him and practicing with him, the choice was a swift one. Things are already moving quickly and you'll be hearing things soon.

Our next show will be on June 1st 2008 in Providence, details forthcoming. All tourdates on the myspace are solid and dates/cities for our 2nd European tour will be announced soon. It will be 2-3 weeks in August with Powered Record's own Common Cause. Recording will now take place this summer and our lp will be released in the fall. Plenty of touring will be done to promote this record and we hope to see even more of the world than we have thus far. Our first year was crazy, We have a feeling the 2nd will be even crazier.

Thanks for reading this and thank you to everyone who has given us support in ANY form thus far. We look forward to seeing all of you soon,

so im now singing for a new band. i was asked to try out for a band after the other singer they've had quit/flaked out. i have some reservations, but ultimately i think the positives outweigh the negatives. i shall be doing some touring this summer which im excited for, playing new songs. although we'll have to play some of the older songs still, which is weird for me, but i'll get used to it. i have to learn a bunch of old songs, i have a hard time with learning other peoples songs sometimes, but i'm doing my best.

    europe in august, stoked!

    things. . .

working at nice slice is going well. im pretty comfortable with how things work so far. i don;t feel like ive killed myself working to much yet. although i don't think ive worked to much yet. it's cool getting tips at the end of the night. it's like having spending money you didn't think you would have. it's nice not to have to goto the atm as much.

transcripts sent to rhode island college. nervous/ excited about this. fafsa got filled out today, im trying to be ahead of the game, or feel like i am.

getting my van title stuff figured out. i don;t know where it is, with all the moving i've done since i bought the van, i think it's gone somewhere in lost land. called the bank today and im working on getting the info to me. hopefully i can work all of this out through phone calls and so forth. once i get all of that together i'll be ready to hand over the nugget. i feel ok about it, but i think once it's gone, i'll be a little sad. not sure if i'll be getting a vehicle soon after or wait a bit. im thinking i might wait and see how i can manage without one for awhile.

some other stuff going on that i can't speak of at the moment. im kind of excited and nervous about this as well. doing a band again, that's all i'll really say, we'll see if it happens.

june 1st out of my apt. need to figure out living stuff.
    Tuesday, April 15th, 2008
    2:48 pm
i tend to do this to myself. work myself to the limit.

i will be training at nice slice this week, just working the counter, but the hours will be 6pm-2am. i'll only be working about 3 nights a week, but that plus the 40 hours at whole foods with the hours being 5am-1:30pm. should be an interesting few months.

reasons that im doing it, or at least the reasons im telling myself im doing it saving money for a new car, and a new computer. two things i'll need soon, esp. when i sell the van and since i'll be going back to school.

so i plan on using the money i get from the van as a down payment on a new car plus whatever i save up. although i think once i get enough money for a computer i'll go ahead and get that out of the way first. then of course is the decision, do i get a mac? i do have an ipod now and it's formatted for macs. i want a laptop because im moving around a bunch, and that'll be a lot easier for me.

also june 1st im out of this apt. and i'll be getting my security deposit back. im pretty sure i'll be staying at easy axxes for a few months over the summer. i still don't know details on the verse tour, last i knew i was going. but with getting a job at nice slice, we'll see. i know im quitting whole foods in june maybe sooner we'll see.

also working at nice slice while in school will be a lot better than working at whole foods and school. i would much rather goto school during the day than at night and have to wake upfor a 5am shift.

so thats me in a nut shell.

i won even et started on the ladies. i'll just say im keeping it real. i went dancing last night with lauren and it was awesome.

    #23- Monotonix, black pus @AS220, Providence,RI

Holy Fuck Monotonix was awesome. crowd surfing drummer while still playing some drums. holy shit. band was crazy and off the hook. so good. i didn't buy a record because it'll never live up to the live show. But wow! so wild. MC5 meets some 80s punk band.

    Black Pus loud and noisy.

#22- 3/28/08 The Ergs, For Science, Sam Weir, Chris Paddock @Easy Axxes, Pawtucket, RI

The first show i did all by myself in the Providence area. It went way better than i expected it to. Didn't lose to much money and i had a really good time. Chris paddock was really good this night. Sam Weir was fucking awesome. new songs are great and they put a huge fucking smile on my face. i wish i was still in that band, good people i miss them. songs are killer. For Science was ok at best, wasn't really feeling them so much. The ergs were great, fun time and they played a good set. including "hey Jealousy".
